BUTTERFLY SENDS GIRGAON A-FLUTTER

CAN A COMMON BUTTERFLY LIKE THIS HAVE SAI BABA'S FACE ON ITS WINGS?
Where does faith end and gullibility begin? The residents of Girgaon Mumbai, India) would be hard put to comment. For, just a few days ago, one saw them rushing en masse to the Sai Baba's Temple at Krantinagar in Girgaon to pay their respects to --- yes, we're serious ! --- A BUTTERFLY !
"It was not just a normal butterfly," exclaims 15-year-old Ajay Kale, from the Chikitsak Samuha High School. "It was large, the size of both your palms put together, and on each wing one could clearly see the face of SHIRDI KE SAI BABA," he insists. The earnest look on his face makes one guilty about the cynical thought running through one's mind that this newfound love for Sai Baba embellished Lepidoptera might just be an excuse for cutting school! And, of course, Kale is not alone in the believer's corner.Apparently, half of Girgaon dutifully trooped to the spot to witness the miracle of the out-size insect in question that appeared out of the blue and fluttered around the Tulsi plant that graces the exterior of the Sai Baba Temple. Anil Gawde, who has been looking after the Temple for several years
now, is amazed that the butterfly chose his Tulsi plant over all the others in the city to descend on. "It was gone the next day, but we feel blessed that Sai Baba made His presence felt amongst us. God is near," he says.
Guess we need to be reminded of that, now and then. And so what if it's a delicate winged wonder that has to do the job, right?
